Social Studies
Students will study the development and progression of civilization in the Eastern Hemisphere. Ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt and Nubia, Rome, Greece, India, and China will be studied as we link the past to our lives today. Our study of these civilizations will include a focus on geography, lasting achievements, and famous people and events. We will also explore modern day life of the people of these areas and the changes that have taken place. We will use our text, various other books, articles, and websites to learn about the fascinating and important lives of ancient peoples. Many projects incorporating research and art will enhance the curriculum.

The stadium of Olympia, situated east of the sacred Altis enclosure, was where the ancient Olympic Games and the Heraia, the women's games in honour of Hera, were held. Before the sixth century BC the running events were held on a flat area along the treasuries' terrace, east of the great altar of Zeus.
